This fashion project explores the visual and cultural language of the sailor uniform, drawing from the traditional sailor boy suit to develop a structured, boxy silhouette rooted in functionality and identity. Beyond silhouette, the research delves into sailor culture and craftsmanship, particularly embroidery, where anchors, ropes, maritime insignias, and hand-stitched details become symbolic elements. Traditionally associated with rank and belonging, these components are reimagined as expressive surface treatments, transforming embroidery into poetic storytelling that evokes travel, discipline, nostalgia, and youth. The project ultimately examines uniform as both a system of order and a medium for individuality, softening rigid structures while preserving their iconic form, and creating garments that embody a tension between conformity and self-expression.
